It was 1996 I was 1st in Dhaka by bus, coming times suddenly seen a red building very old standby behind the road near by Gulistan, I have asked a traveler what’s this building say ”Curzon Hall”. This is the first building what I seen under Dhaka University.
Curzon Hall is a town hall, is part of the school of science of the University of Dhaka. This is a double storied brick building. Layout maintained garden, large central hall, lateral wings on the east and west with several rooms, and a continuous verandah on all sides
With its significance in education during the post independence era of Bangladesh as well as afterwards, it has become an emblem of educational tradition of the country. During the Language Movement, Curzon Hall was the location of significant events. In 1948, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the general of the Pakistan military, declared Urdu to be the only state language of Pakistan, outlawing the teaching of Bengali. Students of Dhaka University opposed it and in Curzon Hall, they declared their opposition to Jinnah’s planned about state language policy.
